Job Title: Compensation and Benefits Analyst

Location: La Jolla, CA

Job Summary: As a member of the Human Resources team, you provide analytical and operational support in the areas of Compensation, Benefits and HR Analytics. You will partner with the Senior Director in the delivery of global compensation and benefits programs and use your analytical expertise to make insightful recommendations. You will be a key contributor in creating the optimal mix of rewards considering our global diversity and total rewards strategy.

Job Duties and Responsibilites:  

Compensation:

  • Conduct job evaluations and job pricing. Prepare and communicate recommend job level and ranges for base pay, incentive pay and equity to HR and managers
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of job evaluation system to determine standardized job titles and job families. Serve as a resource to HR and managers regarding the development and maintenance of job descriptions
  • Conduct external and internal equity analysis to determine competiveness and fairness of our compensation programs
  • Facilitate approval process for salary changes and partner with HR Director and Finance to process increase
  • Support the annual salary planning process. Research and establish merit budgets and provide input on salary recommendations to ensure fairness and competitiveness. Ensure adherence to global budgets
  • Support the semi-annual bonus process including gathering individual performance results and partnering with Finance in the payout calculations
  • Support the equity process including management of the equity software system
  • Support the Compensation Committee process including development of reports materials
  • Support the sales compensation process including the research and design of incentive compensation, bonus plans or other related sales compensation plans
  • Manage and participate in published compensation surveys
  • Partner with HR team to educate managers and employees on our compensation philosophy and strategy
  • Conduct financial impact analysis to compensation related recommendations
  • Monitor legislative changes impacting compensation programs

Benefits:

  • Support the alignment of global benefit programs by providing a globally consistent level of benefits tailored to the needs of local country practices
  • Participate in the analysis and design of new international benefit plans
  • Monitor trends and developments in benefit programs and make recommendations to enhance our offering
  • Manage the open enrollment process including recommending plan design changes, cost impact analysis and communication plans
  • Partner with Finance in creating benefit budgets and analyzing variances
  • Serves as a back-up in resolving employee questions by interpreting benefit policies
  • Serves as a back-up in reconciling benefit accounts and billing statements
  • Prepares special reports by researching, analyzing and summarizing benefits data and trends
  • Monitor legislative changes impacting benefit programs

HR Analytics:

  • Lead HR analytics and reporting. Build and maintain HR analytics dashboards. Conduct ad-hoc analysis to provide insight into business needs
  • Maintain integrity of compensation and job data globally. Partner with HRIS Manager to ensure valid and consistent data

General:

  • Develop and document standard processes and procedures
  • Mentor HR Coordinator in the areas of Compensation, Benefits and HR Analytics

Job Requirements:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the analysis, design, and/or administration of compensation programs
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the analysis, design, and/or administration of global benefit programs
  • Experience with Radford compensation data
  • Experience with sales incentive plans
  • Superb analytical and research skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization and project management
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible, to work independently, and to shift gears depending on changing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in building internal business relationships with a proven track record of success in internal communications
  • A creative thinker who has the ability to develop unexpected solutions
  • High energy and experience working in a fast-paced environment
