For national and international employers, attracting and retaining talent become increasingly important in a strengthening economy and to address familiar issues – rising health care cost, ongoing reform, the need for wellness, and competitive compensation – themes often shared in the domestic U.S. market.  

The Senate Committee on Health Care and Senate are reviewing the House Version of the American Health Care Act to determine what changes may be made to the Affordable Care Act with substantial potential changes upon coverage, employer and employee contributions, and tax treatment.

In this presentation, our speakers will address top trends and issues.  As a global consulting firm, Mercer empowers employers with the survey data needed to make decisions on benefits and compensation.  the results from our U.S. Benefits Survey of Employer Sponsored Plans.

Verali Beltran is a Principal in the Irvine office of Mercer, and has been with Mercer for 10 years. As a senior health & benefits consultant, Verali works extensively with her clients to provide strategic direction on all aspects of their health & welfare program, including benefit design, financial projections, health care reform, and wellness. She is experienced with both fully insured and self-funded plans, helping her clients understand their claims experience and utilization, and helping set budget projections for her self-funded clients. She also assists clients in vendor negotiation, selection and implementation, and functions as the overall project manager to support the various phases of identifying, recommending and implementing efficient solutions to achieve client objectives.  Ms. Beltran received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from the University of San Diego.  

 


Leena Bhakta is a Principal and Compliance Consultant and Attorney in the Irvine Office of Mercer for over 4 years. She consultants with current and prospective clients regarding a variety of legal issues pertaining to health and welfare plans, including compliance with the ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, MHPEA, and USERRA, and assists consultants with designing plan options and designs conform with applicable laws and regulations, including plan documents and summary plan descriptions. Ms. Bhakta earned her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin and Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Criminology, Law, and Society from the University of California at Irvine.
