Presenting for this event will be:

 Garrett Sullivan


Garrett is a Principal in Mercer’s Irvine office with 11 years of experience in health and benefits consulting with Mercer.

As a member of Mercer’s Large Jumbo Employer Team (LJET) and National Accounts Team, he spends most of his time working with large employers and the portfolio companies of private equity firms.

Garrett’s particular areas of expertise include self-funded benefit plans, Consumer Directed Health Plans and associated savings/reimbursement accounts, benefit program harmonization and consolidation, mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis, and working with Mercer’s specialty practices.

Garrett prides himself on his availability, responsiveness, and strong client relationships. For his clients, Garrett is responsible for managing all projects such as strategic planning, renewal, carrier/vendor partnerships and implementations, financial report preparation and delivery, completion of compliance requirements, peer review, and ad-hoc client requests and/or issues.

Garrett received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Finance from the University of California-Riverside.


 Fernanda Zendejas, JD


Fernanda Zendejas, JD

Fernanda is a Principal at Mercer and a subject matter expert in leave, statutory disability, paid sick leave laws, and other paid time off. She began her career in the absence and productivity space in 2011 consulting on statutory leave law changes and drafting legal publications on topics such as ADAAA, pregnancy disability leave, and sick leave laws.

Fernanda completed her law degree at Whittier Law School and passed the California bar in 2017. She joined Mercers LAD practice in September of 2017 focusing on compliance until she transitioned to the Regulatory Resource Group earlier this year.

Fernanda specializes in assessing leave programs and how they coordinate with applicable state leave laws such as Paid Sick, Job Protected Laws, Paid Family and Medical Leave laws, and PTO requirements. She works with clients all over the country.

She is based in the Irvine, California office where she also maintains a resident Life & Health Insurance License. She is fluent in Spanish.



 Janet Vreeland, CEBS


Janet is Principal in Mercer's Irvine office and is responsible for client relationship development and provides strategic sales consultation, deploys Mercer resources and monitors work quality and service delivery.

Prior to joining Mercer’s Southern California Growth Team in 2014, Janet served in executive leadership roles in the Southwest where her responsibilities included sales management, new business production and client consulting. Her expertise is working with commercial employers with 500 or more employees. She is equally familiar with privately held and publicly traded organizations.

She serves as President on the Orange County Compensation and Benefits Association (OCCABA) Board of Directors.

Janet began her career working in new business development and client management with Prudential and CIGNA and not for profit healthcare organization Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. She graduated from Trinity University, San Antonio, TX with a BA and the dual majors of Spanish and Mass Communications and is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist. She has active licenses in CA and AZ for Life & Health and Property & Casualty.
